The Caddie Treble

Well it was eventually going to happen to Caddy Boyne this summer...The Treble! Three caddie rounds on the links courses at St. Andrews. The first round was on the Old Course at 07.10am then straight onto the Jubilee Course at 11.28am and completing the trio back on the Old Course at 16.00pm. Fortunately we had a dry day with a light breeze and my golfers bags were good light stand-bags. Finished at... Expand this post »

St Andrews Links Trophy Record Victory

A wee bit late and the post will be consumed by the US Open at Olympic GC but the extraordinary victory by Daan Huizing of the St Andrews Links Tropphy, by an amazing 14 shots, created some big news this side of the pond. His opening round on the New Course shooting a 65 in 20-25mph winds (gusting to 30mph) was fantastic and is still staggering many here in St Andrews. He was last years runner up in this competition and had a marvelous 11 shot victory last month in the Lytham Trophy, played at Royal Lytham the scene of this years Open Championship.

Anderson Family in St. Andrews

A superb trip to St. Andrews for the Anderson family began with Rick on the Old Course at 5pm on the day of his arrival, then the wonderful Kingsbarns Links Sunday followed by a second round over the Old Course on Monday morning. Rick then went to the stern test of Carnoustie for his final round... A great trip for all finishing with a couple of days in our capitol city of Edinburgh.

Links Trophy 1st Round.

Tough conditions yesterday on the New Course with +25mph and many struggled. My golfer was doing pretty well going thru the front nine with +1 but a run of bogeys momentarily stopped with a birdie on the Par 5 12th had us finish +6. Frittered away a good round. We will need to shoot a -4 under Par 68 on the Old Course this afternoon to have any chance of making the cut. Conditions are good, not so much wind and certainly a warmer day for some good golf.

Links Trophy 2012...New Golfer

All change for Caddy Boyne at the St Andrews Links Trophy. I was expecting to be out with young South African golfer but to cut long story short...two Caddies one golfer. I stepped aside. I decided to hang around for a bit and contacted a friend working as a Professional Golfer at Gleneagles who had passed on info' about a Belgium player looking for a caddie...unfortunately he had teed off earlier. After a couple of cups of coffee the Caddie Department received a call and I was on the 1st tee of the Old Course with a golfer from Wales, Richard Bentham. We had a good practice round and I am on the first tee of the New Course tomorrow morning at 10.20am. Crazy start to the day...all ends well.

Classic view up 1st fairway of Old Course St Andrews This is the official practice day on the Old Course for the annual St Andrews Links Trophy, on of the top amateur golf competitions. A good strong field has assembled from across the world, Australia, USA, Sth Africa, Argentina, Mexico, and Europe. I have been assigned a young golfer from South Africa, Nikki Jonker, playing out of the Els banner. We have a practice round today at 11.00am on the Old Course and our competition begins tomorrow on the New Course at 10.40am. Two qualifying rounds, New & Old Course, then top 40 players and ties play two rounds on Sunday on the Old Course. Let us see what the day has in store!

Brothers on New Course

The brothers Bruce-Lockhart from Calgary, pure coincidence that Rick is also from there, managed to secure a tee time on the New Course yesterday  immediately after their arrival and were informed that evening of Caddie Golf Tours securing a tee time on the Old Course, via the Ballot, at 07.40am. A good days work.

Old Course 1st tee

Our good friend from Calgary, Canada, Rick Anderson played the Old Course on Saturday at 5pm with my good self, then Kingsbarns Links on Sunday and the Old Course St. Andrews, once again, this morning with me performing my caddie duties. Rick has one more round to golf and it is at the  legendary Carnoustie Links tomorrow afternoon...fabulous.
