Celts v Vikings 2013, Kingsbarns Golf Links

This was the second golf match against our yearly Spring visitors from Sweden. These guys have been coming to St. Andrews for over 10 years and the caddies have built up friendships that has resulted in this 'Grand Match' which was won again by the St. Andrews Caddies. A superb day of golf on one of the world's great links courses with friends from Europe. We also had one of the Swedish golfers produce a 'hole-in-one' at the Par3 2nd, wonderful stuff. Clicking on the text above will take you to my G+ page and more photographs taken of the match at Kingsbarns Golf Links.

Scotland Weather Improves

Image
Sunshine on Caddie Pavilion at Old Course last week. Next week finally brings an improvement to the temperature in Scotland and St. Andrews in particular, at last double figures if not exactly tropical. Looks a wee bit windy on Tuesday with it blowing up to 28mph. Click on the text above to be taken to BBC Weather in St. Andrews for next week.

I have not been involved in this annual event... Expand this post »

Monday 8th April, 2013, Ballot tee time sheet for the Old Course at St. Andrews and Mr B. Duffy must know a few people as his 06.50am time is 'unofficial' and he is heading out as a single golfer. Rather Unusual. http://www.standrews.org.uk/Booking/Ballot.aspx/?date=08/04/2013 The Starter's Hut & 1st tee of the Old Course at St. Andrews Upon scrolling down the Ballot one comes upon an interesting group with full forenames rather than initials being stated, again highly unusual, and each a female golfer...Jan, Diana, Pauline, Claire, Elizabeth, Nicole, Joanna, Shiona, Sue, Ann, Vivien & Di. This could be good fun and I do believe that these girls may just coincide with my arrival.

Friday Tee Times on Old Course

The St. Andrews Caddie Pavilion Friday tee times on the Old Course at St. Andrews and the first presence, this early in the season, of Chinese golfers dominating a large segment of the morning Ballot. We caddies can expect a lot of heavy gambling on each hole...and a 4 hour 45 minute round! Click on the above text to view Friday Ballot.

2013 Caddie Golf Season Begins

Image
2nd 'official' day on the St. Andrews Links & the Old Course for the Caddies and the Ballot looks full with plenty of potential clients. Around 95 guys registered yesterday, I was number 84, for the forthcoming golf season here at St. Andrews and as we progress through this month into May we should see this caddie pool rise to 130.  Old Course St. Andrews from 18th tee. I arrived late in the morning yesterday after driving over from the... Expand this post »
