Old Course in the Fog

An strange day here at the Old Course, St Andrews...the 'Haar' (sea mist) came in very early in the morning and never left the Old Course, visibility down to 150 yards. A tough day for the golfers and the caddies.

17th Road Hole Bunker, Old Course St Andrews

The famous Road hole bunker at the 17th hole of the Old Course was dismantled and rebuilt on Sunday 5th August, ready for play on Monday the 6th August. The Greenkeepers started at 5.00am and completed the job around 1.30pm that afternoon. This world famous bunker does get a lot of traffic walking into it for a wee look and the taking of many photographs. I have experienced my golfers hitting into it on purpose to prove it can be conquered! It rarely is. A massive congratulations to the Greenkeepers for their superb effort.

R&A Old Course Tee Times

Tomorrow, Monday 6th August, Ballot for Old Course tee times. It shows that the R&A Golf Club now have two blocks of tee times, one in the morning   and afternoon between 9-10am and 2-3pm respectively. This cuts down the amount of tee times that are available to the visiting and local golfers. It happens every August and is quite a contentious issue with the local residents of St. Andrews.

Junior Golf Tournament at St. Andrews Links

LB and I went down for a game of golf over the Strathtyrum Golf Course at the St. Andrews Links at 3pm this afternoon and found literally hundreds of junior golfers from all parts of the world either out or preparing to go out on their practice rounds. We went onto the 9 hole Balgove Golf Course for a fun wee round instead.

Glasgow Golf Club

A lovely invitation to golf at Killermont Golf Club, Glasgow, this morning from my golfing partner Andy T. This was the very last golf course designed by Old Tom Morris...so much history you could cut some out and put it in a frame. Home for 1pm and the final day of the Open Championship...what a day.

Third Day Open Championship

Quite a bit of work done over the last couple of hours regarding golfers arriving in Scotland tomorrow, a husband & wife on Monday and eight more next Saturday 28th July. Busy, busy. Now it is time to relax, go pick-up my golfing pal, Andy, and get to the local pub with LB and watch the third day of Open Championship. All the players have teed off the 1st tee and we are looking forward to a good afternoon of golfing entertainment...that only the Open Championship can bring.

2012 Open Championship: DAY 2

Day 2 of The Open Championship and a wonderful 'dream round' on the links by Brandt Snedeker, excellent golf. Two days to go and I am led to believe that some wind is due to hit the golf links. I suspect that the lead may change a few times over the next 2 rounds.

Castle Stuart Golf Links Photographs

A few photographs from the fantastic Castle Stuart Golf Links in the Highlands of Scotland the host venue of this weeks Scottish Open Championship...LB & I will be there for Saturday & Sunday's golf. These pics are from a couple of years ago when I was invited up be my brother-in-law TC. This golf course has fast become one of my top links in Scotland. Absolutely wonderful.

Trump International Golf Links, Scotland

Here are some images from Donald Trump's first golf links in Scotland constructed just north of Aberdeen and officially opened for play today. I am really looking forward to a round of golf on this visually stunning links designed by golf architect Martin Hawtree.

Trump Golf Links Opens Today

Donald Trump's truly magnificent golf links at Menie, Aberdeen, officially opens today. It has been designed by the R&A's 'go to' architect Martin Hawtree and will become a must play golf course in Scotland. Please contact Caddie Golf Tours for information on tee times at our special rate.

Glasgow Gailes Golf

The weather conditions look to be improving for my game at the marvelous Glasgow Gailes - http://www.gaileslinks.co.uk/ - with my old golfing partner Andrew and two golfers I have yet to meet, one is a member of the R&A. I have been assured by Andrew that the guys play fast and we should be completing our round within 3 hours. Excellent.

One Armed Golf Society

An interesting Ballot of Old Course Tee Times tomorrow, Wednesday 4th July with the Society of One Armed Golfers on the course from 09.10am until Noon. My understanding is that the golfers are playing all the courses on the Links having already competed on the New and Strathtyrum. The caddie uptake has been poor so far with only six requested...I wonder how many will be ask to assist on the Old Course?

The Caddie Treble

Well it was eventually going to happen to Caddy Boyne this summer...The Treble! Three caddie rounds on the links courses at St. Andrews. The first round was on the Old Course at 07.10am then straight onto the Jubilee Course at 11.28am and completing the trio back on the Old Course at 16.00pm. Fortunately we had a dry day with a light breeze and my golfers bags were good light stand-bags. Finished at... Expand this post »

St Andrews Links Trophy Record Victory

A wee bit late and the post will be consumed by the US Open at Olympic GC but the extraordinary victory by Daan Huizing of the St Andrews Links Tropphy, by an amazing 14 shots, created some big news this side of the pond. His opening round on the New Course shooting a 65 in 20-25mph winds (gusting to 30mph) was fantastic and is still staggering many here in St Andrews. He was last years runner up in this competition and had a marvelous 11 shot victory last month in the Lytham Trophy, played at Royal Lytham the scene of this years Open Championship.
