Scotland Golf Courses in Top 100.

Golf Digest has given Scotland's great, and historic, golf courses a wonderful boost by naming seventeen of them in the 'World's Top 100 Courses Outside the USA'.

The golf links at St. Andrews has four of its' courses in the 100 for the first time, with the Old Course named as the number two behind, 2007 Walker Cup venue, Royal County Down in Northern Ireland. The New Course (63), Castle Course (65) and the Jubilee (92) make up the four at St. Andrews and this grouping has also given the grand old town Golf Digest's accolade of "the game's pre-eminent destination".

The other thirteen Scottish golf courses in the 'Top 100' are: the 2009 British Open venue of Turnberry (5), Royal Dornoch (6), Carnoustie (8), Royal Troon (15), Kingsbarns (18), Loch Lomond (21), Cruden Bay (37), Machrihanish (39), North Berwick (40), Royal Aberdeen (48), Western Gailes (58) and the lengendary Prestwick (69) first British Open venue in 1860.

This is a tremendous achievement by Scotland's golf courses to be recognised by 900+ golf panelists in Golf Digest's authoritative biannual ranking of the top 100 courses outside the USA.

Obviously Caddie Golf Tours would happily recommend all of them! I personally only have a four of these to cross off my list of 'must play' Scottish links golf courses. Plenty of time to organise my calender over the forthcoming years to accomodate golfing on (not just caddying on) Royal Dornoch, Carnoustie, Royal Aberdeen and the exclusive Loch Lomond.

This listing of five of Scotland's courses in the top 10 clearly highlights the quality of the golf to be found at the Home of Golf and also the accessability of the courses to the golfer willing to travel. Please remember to contact Caddie Golf Tours, if you have an 'urge' to test yourself over these legendary links golf courses, for the best advice on how to get here, stay and play golf upon them.
