St. Andrews Tee Time Changes

From the beginning of January 2012 the Old Course Ballot tee times have been printed 48 hours before play and, in a good move, the St. Andrews Links Trust have announced today that any tee times not allocated via the Ballot will be made available to golfers who contact their Reception (+44 (0)1334 466 666). These tee times will be on a first come first served basis and any available slots still to be filled can be accessed on the day by talking to the Old Course Starter in person.

Now, before we bring out the band and set off the firework display, it should be pointed out that the only time of the year tee time slots are not fully taken up on the Old Course is during the low season, November-March, and the Links Trust will run this as a wee experiment until the end of this March. There is no reason for it not to work and it should prove popular as long as you recognise that you will be playing off 'astroturf' mats to protect the fairways.

Overall a good move for those with the savvy to be prepared for a round over the Old Course on short notice, albeit on 'mats', during late February and March when the weather can be surprisingly kind on the east coast of Scotland, and the cost is only £70.
