Double Round on the Old Course

I got on the first tee of the Old Course, St Andrews, at 07.50am. A wee bit chilly and a smattering of light rain now and then through the round but it did not effect the enjoyment of my golfer from San Francisco area. A delightful man who had been standing in queue since 04.45am. I would call that dedication to his cause to play the Old Course.

I have had a good lunch in the St Andrews Golf Club and I am just having a warming "second cup" of strong coffee in the wonderful Dunvegan Hotel just 120 yards up the road from the Old Course. I am scheduled to caddie this afternoon at 15.00pm and have just been watching the rain fall heavily from a darkened sky...thankfully it seems to be receeding. I hope so, only 45 minutes until my tee time!

Identifying My Golf Ball

I have over the years seen, in competition golf and fun bounce games, that it is really important to have a clear unique identification on your golf ball. I played in a wee competition a few weeks ago and all three golfers had one red dot marked next to the Titliest brand name! What are the chances? Boyne's identifying mark. After a wee think that evening I decided to go for a four dot two colour combination. The reasoning was that no other golfer is going to be this anal to sit for an hour and put a mark like it on his golf balls. I may need to get a life?!?

Old Course St Andrews 2022 green fee

The St Andrews Links Trust recently announced the green fee costs for a round of golf on the Old Course during the 2022 golf season. The first couple of weeks in April, called the 'Shoulder Season', there is a reduced fee of £ 137 British pounds ($180). This rises to £ 270 British pounds ($355) in the 'High Season' which lasts through to the middle of October when it will drop to £ 190 pounds ($250) for the final 2 weeks of that month. Winter golf on the Old Course, known as the 'Low Season' has been priced at £ 135 pounds ($178). There are a few restrictions on the Old Course with winter tee positions, a few bunkers under reconstruction and an astroturf golf mat is used when playing on the fairway.
