2015 Tournament Golf in Scotland

A wonderful selection of tournament golf is anticipated throughout 2015 when the best male and female, professional and amateur golfers descend upon Scotland, the Home of Golf. After last year's Ryder Cup at Gleneagles this is setting up to be another year for Scotland to show off our golf courses that are available for all to play.

The Amateur Championship 15th - 20th June, Carnoustie Championship Course
Approach to Carnoustie 18th green

The R&A run Amateur Championship returns to Carnoustie for the first time since 1992 where young Scotsman Bradley Neil will look to defend the title he won last year. This great competition has been won by legendary American golfer Bobby Jones, Sir Michael Bonnallack former Secretary of R&A, 2 time Masters Champion Jose Maria Olazabal, Ryder Cup hero Sergio Garcia, and current European Tour winners Michael Hoey and Matteo Manassero.

Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open 9th - 12th July, Gullane Golf Club
Gullane No2
The 2015 Scottish Open moves to a new venue at Gullane where the championship will be played over a combination of the best holes from its No1 & No2 courses. The little town of Gullane also hosts The Open venue of Muirfield. As a prelude to The Open, being held the following week in St Andrews, the Scottish always attracts a strong field with many of the world's best golfers taking advantage of playing true links golf the week before The Open. In fact the last 5 winners of The Open: Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Darren Clarke and Louis Oosthuizen have all played the Scottish as part of their preparation.

The Open Championship 16th - 19th July, Old Course St Andrews
The Claret Jug. The Open Trophy
The highlight of the this year is obviously the 144th Open Championship return to St Andrews for its' 29th playing on the Old Course. It was last here in 2010 when Louis Oosthuizen won the coveted Claret Jug and he will be looking to do as Tiger Woods did, in 2000 & 2005, and win back to back St Andrews Opens but first he will have to wrestle it out of the hands of current Champion Golfer and World No1, Rory McIlroy.

Ricoh Women's British Open 30th July - 2nd August, Trump Turnberry Resort
Ricoh Women's British Open
This is the only recognized Women's Major played on a links course in the UK and this year the very best professional golfers will arrive at Turnberry's famous Ailsa Course, taken over in 2014 by the American Donald Trump, to compete and emulate the great Australian golfer Karrie Webb who won the trophy when it was last played here in 2002.

This is one of the last big pay cheques on the European Tour and it is played as a Pro-Am and is a celebration of Scottish Links Golf on three of our great golf courses. It attracts a strong European Tour presence and some of the PGA golfers have been seen enjoying the relaxed week over the last few years.

I am sure you will agree that we have an exciting year of tournament golf to look forward to in Scotland and we hope that you are able to watch some of these events and that it gets you thinking about a trip to our wonderful golfing country where all golfers can play on all of Scotland's golf courses. There is no where else in the world of golf that allows you such access to Major championship golf courses and with good forward planning in conjunction with ourselves at Caddie Golf Tours we will see you enjoying these legendary golf courses in the years ahead...Fore!
