The St Andrews Caddies Charity Fund

The old St Andrews Caddie Pavilion.
Over the next 3 months a series of charitable events will be organised by the St. Andrews Caddies in support of The Keepers of The Green (Registered Charity SCO33783) which provides powered wheelchairs to residents of St. Andrews and local areas in greatest need of them.

St Andrews Caddies David Coyne, Jimmy Reid, Tam Robertson and John Boyne, with the help of their fellow caddies aim to raise upwards of the £ 3000 British Pounds required to purchase a powered wheelchair which will be presented to a local resident during the build up to the 144th Open Championship being played at St. Andrews in July 2015.

Current Running Total = £ 2250 British Pounds

Local Caddie Kevin Fogarty has created a website for the Charity highlighting the donations received and who from. A Blog, a Charity Auction page and an Events Gallery with some photographs of the fund raising so far are on the website.

St Andrews Winter Golf

The official winter golf season has begun in St Andrews and it is marked by a reduction in green fees as well as the annual introduction of the 'fairway mats' which appeared on the Old Course on 10th November and are set to remain until 31st March 2021. The fairway mat protects the turf during these cold months, allowing play to continue on the legendary St Andrews Links with a perfect lie each time and helping to present the fairways in peak condition for the new golf season. They will also be used on the New, Jubilee, Eden and Strathtyrum courses from 1st December until 12th March 2021. The Castle Course will close this weekend, Sunday 29th November, for its' winter rest until it returns for play on 1st March 2021 when it will also have the fairway mats in use until the end of the month.

The St. Andrews Town Match 2013

St. Andrews held the 100th playing of the Town Match on Saturday 14th September. This historic event is played between the local & international members of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club against the two main local golf clubs in the town: St. Andrews Golf Club and the New Club. 1st tee Old Course at St. Andrews Scotland There were 171 foursomes matches played over the Old Course, New Course, Jubilee Course and 1/2 dozen or so were even were golfed on the Strathtyrum Course. This amounts to 684 golfers in what must rank as one of the largest one day golf competitions in the world. Cruden Bay Golf Club

To help entice you avid golfers out there to come over to Scotland for a golf tour this summer I will be posting some pictures of my favourite Scottish golf courses over the next few weeks.  It is going to be a super golf season here in Scotland with the Open Championship returning to Turnberry in July and the majority of our major golf courses having retained last years prices.
