Golf in Scotland after Covid-19

Image
Good to see January coming to a close and though Scotland remains in lockdown, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have to believe that we will be able to travel to other parts of the country and golf some old favourites and new golf courses soon. Balcomie Links Crail Golfing Society With the continuing vaccination roll out we all have hopes of travel opening within the UK by May and certainly by the summer. It is becoming increasingly unlikely that international travel will be allowed before June, which means that the British golfer will be able to take advantage of golf at many of our great courses.   Golf House Club at Elie Golf in Scotland is not all about the Old Course St Andrews and our big reputation Open venues at Carnoustie, Muirfield, Royal Troon, Turnberry and the original Prestwick. Scotland January 'lockdown' and golf.

Scotland's First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, today announced that the country would 'lockdown' for the month of January due to the increase in COVID-19. This means that the travel ban into and around the country continues with no travel between Scotland's regions. With the news that the 'Oxford' vaccination began today in the UK we are hopeful that this and the 'lockdown' will start to see a reduction in cases and an opening to international travel with overseas golfers retur...

Last golf before Covid-19 closedown

Image
Caddie Golf Tours, took some time out last Sunday from the ever threatening Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic to golf 9 holes on the Castle Course St Andrews. Little did I think that this would be the last round of golf I would play. Within a couple of days the St Andrews Links Trust had closed all their courses, including the Old Course, on the advice/orders from the British Government. The Castle Course was deserted with those few golfers that were in sight playing solo golf due to the Covid-19 virus, as was I. With the whole country now in an enforced shut down I will look back on these 9 holes with fondness and enjoy the images captured. It is beginning to look like it will be at least June before we get another opportunity to golf here in St Andrews and Scotland, a long layoff but hopefully the putting practice on the hall carpet will produce results...Fore!
