The 2021 winter green fees for golf at St Andrews have been set and will be valid until 31st March 2021. Low Season 1st November - 31st March 2021   Old Course £ 98  New Course £ 43 Jubilee Course £ 43 Eden Course through December and January will be played as two 9 hole layouts and green fee for each nine holes £14. The official winter golf season has begun in St Andrews and it is marked by a reduction in green fees as well as the annual introduction of the 'fairway mats' which appeared on the Old Course on 10th November and are set to remain until 31st March 2021. The fairway mat protects the turf during these cold months, allowing play to continue on the legendary St Andrews Links with a perfect lie each time and helping to present the fairways in peak condition for the new golf season. They will also be used on the New, Jubilee, Eden and Strathtyrum courses from 1st December until 12th March 2021. The Castle Course will close this weekend, Sunday 29th November, for its' winter rest until it returns for play on 1st March 2021 when it will also have the fairway mats in use until the end of the month.

The delightful Christer Andersson and his 3 golfing friends from Sweden had a wonderful 4 golfing days in St Andrews this week with the advice of Caddie Golf Tours. Andersson 4Ball at Castle Course St Andrews. The golfers purchased the St Andrews 3 day Links Ticket that can be used over 7 days, offering unlimited golf on all the St Andrews courses, except the Old Course. A great deal. Mr Andersson drives 1st tee Castle Course. The 4 golfers golfed the Eden, Jubilee, Castle and New courses at the St Andrews Links. They were not successful in obtaining an Old Course tee time during their 4 days, but look forward to playing it next year...Fore!

Our lovely Swedish golfers, Pettersson Party, arrived in early April and went on to enjoy golf in and around St Andrews. A great week of golf during a chilly early April that did not deter our hardy Swedish golfers.

The Ballot As golfers begin to shake of winter and prepare to golf 2017 many are going to be focusing their attention on traveling to golf in Scotland and the Old Course St Andrews in particular. The question arises: How do you golf the Old Course at St Andrews without an advanced and guaranteed tee time? Answer: The Old Course Ballot This is the historic lottery held by the St Andrews Links Trust every afternoon, except Friday, for a number of un-allocated tee times on the Old Course 2 days before you wish to play. Applications are made 48 hours before your day of play Applications are accepted before 2:00pm You can apply in person at the Old Course Pavilion or Links Trust Clubhouse Phone +44 (0)1334 466 666 The golfer submits at least two names and maximum of four Home club membership and handicap details of all golfers are required Request 'play at any time' to increase the chances of success The Ballot result is available ...

The St Andrews Golf Club confirmed my membership of their golf club last week and sent through a list of this years competitions to be played on the wonderful St Andrews links courses that include: Old Course, New Course, Jubilee Course, Eden Course and Castle Course. My own personal golf challenge during the 2017 golf season is to retain the 8 handicap I have (mysteriously) held for the last couple of years and goodness more than a little help from the golfing gods will not go amiss! A super year of golf is going to be enjoyed here in St Andrews no matter what develops with my handicap! You may not be a member of a local St Andrews Golf Club but you too can visit, play golf and enjoy the historic town of St Andrews. This last week I was delighted to receive, through the post, confirmation from the St Andrews Golf Club of my Membership for this year and the competition Fixture List for the 2015 golf season. With the 'interruption' of the 2015 Open Championship at St Andrews in July, the Old Course is closed for 4 weeks, and the New, Jubilee and Eden courses are also affected with the assembly of the infrastructure for the great event, but all the St Andrew golf clubs do find a way to massage the golf calendar to include our local competitions. I did manage to get down to, and retain, an 8 handicap in 2014 so this year my challenge is to enter the 1st tier at the St Andrews Golf Club and for that I require a 7 handicap or less. I am going to need some seriously good and productive practice...Fore!                                                       ...

It was good to meet up again with Mr. Coffey and his wife who had traveled over from Boston, USA, last year to golf in Scotland with the assistance of Caddie Golf Tours. They returned last month with two other couples who would be experiencing Scotland for the first time. Mike Thomas & buddies prepare to golf the Old Course Our client Mike Thomas who came to St Andrews with Caddie Golf Tours in August 2012 has decided that it has been way too long since that first visit to golf in Scotland and has decided to use the tough winter weather in Pennsylvania as an excuse to return to St Andrews. This is one super golf tour of Scotland that, if we may suggest, is only to be recommended to seriously fit golfers who are well and truly prepared to play x11 rounds (at least) of Championship golf over nine days. Carnoustie Championship, Par4 2nd 'Gulley' The Chicago Boys are one such dedicated group with six having low single handicap figures and the remaining members made up of solid mid handicap enthusiasts. During their last tour they played x12 rounds in seven days! It should be remembered that these golf courses regard themselves as walking courses, no carts, therefore a decent level of fitness will be required to undertake a tour such as this.  The golfers are staying in a mix of 4 and 5 Star accommodation which will certainly help caress their bodies after a day spent out on our Championship Links. St. Andrews held the 100th playing of the Town Match on Saturday 14th September. This historic event is played between the local & international members of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club against the two main local golf clubs in the town: St. Andrews Golf Club and the New Club. 1st tee Old Course at St. Andrews Scotland There were 171 foursomes matches played over the Old Course, New Course, Jubilee Course and 1/2 dozen or so were even were golfed on the Strathtyrum Course. This amounts to 684 golfers in what must rank as one of the largest one day golf competitions in the world.
